CHAPTER NINE

Cynder hadn’t laughed this much or felt so at ease in ages. As she floated between her dates, it occurred to her that this was the first real break she had taken in months, if not years. Before the war ended, her life had been nothing but obedience, bloodshed, and battle. Since leaving, she and her brothers had faced one challenge after another. There hadn’t been time to relax or indulge in an evening of laughter and fun.

The vid was better than she expected, given it had been made in a different century. She let herself be drawn into the story, despite the two temptations floating on either side of her. For now, she was content to enjoy the moment, and apparently so were they. Their patience meant more to her than she could ever express. They were giving her the one thing she needed: control. Whatever happened between them, it would only happen if, and when, she said it could.

When the moment did come, she already knew what her answer would be. She was done denying her desires and hiding behind the wall she had built around her heart. Tonight, Jaeger wasn’t the only one inspired to take chances.

It was almost the mid-point of the movie before anything happened, and when it did, it was Toro who made the first move. He removed his arm from around her waist and stroked his fingers up the curve of her spine. It was a whisper-soft caress that sent a flurry of goose flesh chasing across her back. When he reached the nape of her neck, he didn’t stop; he simply reversed direction and retraced the same path. By the third pass, she had lost all interest in the vid.

She tingled everywhere Toro touched her and even places he hadn’t. Anticipation built slowly, fanning the flames of her desires until she was quivering beneath his hands, and her clit was throbbing with the pounding of her heart.

Toro drew her closer and nuzzled her ear, his breath fanning over her skin. “I’m going to ask for your permission now, Cyn.”

Befuddled by her overloaded senses, it took her a moment to be able to focus enough to answer him. “You already have my permission to kiss me.”

“That’s not what I’m asking permission for. Not this time.”

On her other side, Jaeger shifted, turning toward her. He didn’t say a word, but there was such fire burning in his eyes that he didn’t need to speak. She knew what they were asking. What they wanted from her.

“Say it, Toro. Tell me what you want from me.”

“I want you, Cyn. All of you. I want to see every naked inch of you and find out how many times we can make you come before this night has to end.”

Her heart stuttered then started beating at twice the speed it had before. “Yes,” she murmured. “You have my permission.”

“Thank you,” Jaeger said. He closed the distance between them to kiss her as Toro began nibbling on her earlobe, murmuring her name in worshipful tones.
